Kalpana Giri murder case: Mystery deepens, parents allege rape

She did not reach home after the party. Kalpana’s body was found in a lake in Tuljapur, 60 km from Latur city, two days later.

Kalpana, who was single, left her Latur home at 7.30 am on March 21, saying she had to attend the birthday celebrations of MLA Amit Deshmukh, son of the late Vilasrao Deshmukh. But she failed to return home.

Now, her parents have alleged that their daughter was raped before the murder. However, investigating police officers are waiting for post-mortem report before proceeding further on the latest charges levelled by Kalpana's parents. A case has been registered on the basis of the complaint.

According to media reports police have questioned two Congress leaders in this case, but refuses to divulge their names at this stage.
